Darkscape: The Rebel Lord
Lord Lachlan de Douglas, a noble warrior lord, is heir to a Clan of Ancient Earth. Bold, rebellious, possessing strength and passion, he defends his clan from annihilation against a wretched war of masked vengeance and treacherous shadows. Until one day, a sudden horror alters his being, condemning him to a world of private anguish and torment.
Kimberly Kinsale, a diplomat's daughter, is a rare beauty motivated by honesty and integrity. Serving as a lieutenant in an elite combat fighter group aboard a war ship, she governs her life by the intrigue and lies of her commanding officer. A moment of lunacy and folly, a secret revealed, and Kimberly stumbles upon an unspeakable deception.
Now she must decide. Maintain her loyalty, or betray her clan and ship for a Douglas enemy lord who can prove the truth - never knowing the battle for justice would take her through Lachlan's nightmare, a rage so deep, a suffering grounded in shame and pride, even when peace shone in sight.
For theirs is an unexpected passion, born in the fires of a shared need and desperate struggle. And as time slowly runs out - even an exquisite love may not be enough for salvation. To save Lachlan, Kimberly will fight the sinister legacy of the matrix robots and trust the handsome enemy lord with her life, her heart and her very soul.

Darkscape: The Rebel Lord
Slow . . . gray . . . painful . . .
Lachlan became aware of his surroundings . . . humming echoes, metal smells, and things that did not belong.
He was on a moving ship.
He lay naked beneath a blue blanket. He recalled vivid dreams of a green-eyed monster woman sitting on him and stabbing him with . . . with pointed fingers.
Gritting his teeth with stubborn determination, he pushed up on his arms and took in his surroundings. He was in a small room with pale walls and two dim amber lights in the ceiling. He glanced left and frowned. A young woman slept in a chair near the bed. He did not recognize her. As if sensing his perusal, long dark lashes lifted, and a pair of lovely green eyes settled on him.
Kimberly did not know what to say to the pagan warrior-god looking at her. His unusual blue eyes should have been a dead giveaway, but her mind had been too weary to remember.
Asleep, Lord Lachlan de Douglas appeared safe. Awake, he emitted a rugged masculinity alluding to hot, rich sex. The kind that was stirring and damn near irresistible. Wrist shackles clanked in the silence and Kimberly tried hard not to flinch when his eyes narrowed.
"How do you feel?" she asked and uncurled her stiff legs. It had been five hours since recon and another sleep period approached. That mission had been every bit as emotionally grueling as her first kill.
"Release me."
"Unfortunately, I cannot."
The muscles in his right cheek twitched and he tested the strength of the wrist shackles.
She stared at the straining muscles in his arms, startlingly aware of the sheer physical strength of him.
"Stop," she commanded in her best authoritative voice.
He ignored her. No surprise there. Dealing with royalty was a pain.
She grabbed his forearm and he froze.
Something savage and old world glowered at her.
"Don't sit on me again," he warned.
"I only sat on you to keep you from injuring yourself further." Beneath her hands, his body vibrated in suppressed violence. She released his arm and pointed to his side and leg. "I suggest you lie still and allow your wounds time to heal."
"What wounds?" Lachlan tried to sit up further. Then he goddamn felt it. A swirl of red haze and hurt engulfed him. Sharp raw pain pulsed in his swollen thigh. His side pulled and burned where the healing adhesive held torn flesh. He broke into a cold sweat.
"I told you."
With a muttered oath, he collapsed back onto the bed. "My men?" he prompted.
"There were a few casualties. I am sorry. About twenty men are in the ship's brig."
"Food?" he gritted out.
"Yes. They've been fed," she replied, noting he cared more for his men than himself.
"Their wounds?"
"Only two of the men had minor arm wounds and they were treated. How do you feel?" she asked again.
"How do you think I feel?" he growled in complaint.
"Sick and hurt," she replied matter-of-factly. "Are you thirsty?"
Lachlan would never admit to any weakness though his mouth felt like space dust and his brain was muddled in fog.
"I can see you are living up to the Clan Douglas reputation of being prideful and stubborn. Therefore, we can do this either of two ways. Either you answer, yes to my question or I walk away."
"Yes," he replied tightly.

Some of you may remember the book's limited run with a Canadian publisher who went out of business. I am happy to share with you that DARKSCAPE: THE REBEL LORD, (book I) and DARKSCAPE: REDEMPTION (book II) have found a new home with the wonderful people of Medallion Press. I am also happy to share with you that the long awaited book III DARKSCAPE: FIRST HEIR comes out the end of 2010. I wish to express a thank you to all my readers for their support and patience.

old 2004 cover |
To ward off any confusion, I decided to post the old 2004 cover here. Used copies of this book can still be found on some websites. DARKSCAPE: THE REBEL LORD (12/08) from Medallion Press is a completely rewritten book and is available both online and in the bookstores. I must also admit to liking the new cover better. |
Blessings,
